Major new features in all applications
- You can now reply to comments and mark entire discussions as “resolved”.
- In tables, comments can now be applied specifically to individual parts of the text rather than to entire cells.
- You now choose how Track changes is displayed (deletions in the text or in the right margin) once for the entire program instead of setting it again for each document. A new dropdown list on the ribbon lets you switch quickly between the display modes.
- Improved outline view: Move headings, including their sublevels, with drag and drop or the new ribbon buttons.
- Integrated print preview: The new “Print” dialog box displays the preview directly, making it much easier to prepare the printout.
- Seamless DOCX compatibility: DOCX files are now created so that no compatibility prompt appears either when saving in TextMaker or when opening them in Word.
- Import and export for Markdown: TextMaker can now open and save Markdown files (.md) – the format used by many note-taking apps, AI tools and software documentation.
- You can create custom fields and assign values to them in File | Properties.
- When copying and cutting paragraphs, pictures and objects anchored to the paragraph move with them.
- The “Print page background” option no longer affects PDF export. Page backgrounds are now always included when exporting to PDF.
- New version of Duden Korrektor for trusted German spelling, grammar and style checking.
New in TextMaker 2026
- Fresh new design for the ribbon – now looks great even at 150% screen scaling.
- Much darker dark mode – nearly black instead of charcoal, making it easier on the eyes at night.
- Context menus with an integrated toolbar let you quickly access many common commands.
- Copy and paste unformatted text with Ctrl+Shift+C and Ctrl+Shift+V. Copying and pasting formatting is now assigned to Ctrl+Alt+C and Ctrl+Alt+V.
- PDF as a graphic format: Insert PDFs as graphics in TextMaker, PlanMaker and Presentations – another high-quality vector format alongside SVG.
- Color themes: Give documents, worksheets and presentations a new color scheme with a single click – complete with a new, practical default color palette.
- Multi-line QR codes and EPC QR codes – for example, for bank transfers by scanning.
- Insert emojis. [Windows]
- Variable TrueType fonts are now better supported. [Mac, Linux].
- The system file dialog now also appears without Gnome – only the Gtk libraries need to be installed. [Linux]
- The installation no longer associates SoftMaker Office with all supported document types without asking. This is now done as an option when the program starts.[Linux]
New in PlanMaker 2026
- Dynamic arrays as in Excel 365: A single formula can return multiple results that automatically spill into adjacent cells and update themselves when the data changes. For example, enter =SORT(A2:A100) – and the entire sorted list will appear below.
- New array functions: FILTER (filter without a pivot table), SORT, UNIQUE (remove duplicates), SEQUENCE (generate number sequences), TOROW, TOCOL and RANDARRAY.
- XLOOKUP – the flexible successor to VLOOKUP – and XMATCH for position lookup with advanced options.
- WORKDAY.INTL and NETWORKDAYS.INTL – calculate workdays with user-defined weekends.
- AGGREGATE – calculations that can ignore error values and hidden rows.
- MUNIT (identity matrix), as well as UNICODE and UNICHAR (conversion between characters and Unicode values).
- Pivot charts – dynamic, interactive representations of the data in a pivot table.
- Integrated print preview: The new “Print” dialog box displays the preview directly, making it much easier to prepare the printout.
- The colors of the standard cell styles are now better coordinated, making the text easier to read.
New in Presentations 2026
- Color themes: Change the color scheme of an entire presentation with a single click – ideal for matching slides to your corporate design.
- The new text highlighter highlights important passages of text, just like in TextMaker and PlanMaker.
- Text in text frames and placeholders can automatically be fit into the specified frames.
- Insert PDF files as images: in vector quality that stays razor-sharp even on the big screen.
- QR codes on slides: Take your audience directly to downloads, surveys or your website.
